In response to the unprecedented need caused by the COVID-19 crisis, the organization behind the giving movement, GivingTuesday, announced a brand-new global day of giving and unity called GivingTuesdayNow, to be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

The COVID-19 crisis has put already vulnerable people around the world in a dangerous position. Nonprofits have struggled to keep up with the growing need while keeping their staff and volunteers safe. Nonprofits, now more than ever, need support to continue their work on the frontlines of this crisis.

The people behind GivingTuesday know something about giving. GivingTuesday 2019 generated $2 billion in donations in the United States alone. In addition to the massive donations, GivingTuesday also inspires countless acts of generosity including volunteering and simple acts of kindness.

GivingTuesdayNow, the new call to kindness and generosity, aims to provide resources now, when they are so desperately needed. We are asked to give what we can and are encouraged to also perform simple acts of kindness in our community. Check out GivingTuesdayNow’s ideas for how to take part on May 5.

Corporations, groups, schools and individuals can rally around GivingTuesdayNow to make a real impact during these most challenging times. If you’ve considered donating to support your favorite nonprofit, be a part of the global movement of GivingTuesdayNow and make that donation on May 5.

You can also take part by making a donation of goods using YouGiveGoods online giving platform. Over 400 COVID-19 virtual giving events are being run on the platform raising brand-new food and supplies for nonprofits in every one of the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C. Asha Curran, CEO of GivingTuesday says it best when she explains, “We each have the power to make an impact with acts of generosity, no matter how small, to ensure the sustainability of organizations and services that are crucial to the care and support of our communities. #GivingTuesdayNow is a chance for us to stand united and use grassroots generosity to show that we are all in this together, beginning to end.”

GivingTuesdayNow aims to bring the global community together in acts of support and kindness which bind us together even while we are apart. No matter how you choose to participate, be sure to take part in GivingTuesdayNow and use the hashtag #GivingTuesdayNow. Together we can help pave the way for a better tomorrow.
