URGENT ASK TO HOUSE A HOMELESS FAMILY
As a board member of the coalition dedicated to ending homelessness, I feel a deep responsibility to share the urgent need for support this holiday season. In Broward County alone, 6,000 children are attending public schools while facing homelessness — a staggering statistic that underscores a crisis often overlooked in our community. Across Florida, nearly 95,000 children in public schools are experiencing homelessness, with over 1.2 million nationwide. These figures do not even account for infants, toddlers, and those who have dropped out of school. The situation is indeed heartbreaking, but together, we can make a meaningful impact.
Our approach to addressing this issue is both cost-effective and results oriented. It takes approximately $6,000 to help a family transition out of homelessness for good. This amount covers their initial rent and security deposit, enabling them to secure stable housing. Additionally, we offer mentoring and support for four years, equipping families with the necessary skills and resources to maintain their housing. We also maintain a reserve fund to address any emergency needs, ensuring that their progress remains on track.
I am reaching out to ask for your support during this critical time. Your donation, regardless of the amount, will directly benefit families in need. Any contribution you can make will have a significant impact. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation here today. Also, please share with family and friends, to donate by writing a check to the Coalition to End Homelessness or by donating online at www.homelessfl.org. Your generosity can truly transform lives this holiday season. Thank you for your consideration.
