spcaLA is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and is the oldest, most experienced humane organization in Southern California (Tax ID 95-1738153).
Established in 1877,
spcaLA operates three facilities in the California cities of
Los Angeles,
Long Beach and
Hawthorne. Since our inception,
spcaLA has been dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through Education, Law Enforcement, Intervention, and Advocacy.
spcaLA achieves our goals by instilling respect for all living things; promoting humane and anti-violence education; protecting animals against violence - often a precursor to violence against people; providing care for the injured, ill, abused, or otherwise in-need animals; and promoting a bond of mutual assistance between people and animals.
